As exciting as it is to arrive at a travel destination, the process of getting there can be incredibly stressful, especially for those traveling by air. The following three tips can help travelers avoid unnecessary stress at the airport.

1. Do as many things ahead of time as you can. Does your airline offer the opportunity to check in for your flight online? Take it. Does the airline offer you the option of saving your boarding pass to your smart phone? Take advantage of that, too. The more that you can do before you arrive at the airport, the less time you will spend waiting in lines.

2. Consider signing up for TSA Precheck. Individuals who meet certain qualifications and are determined to be low-risk flyers can pay a fee that allows them to move more quickly through security checkpoints in airports around the world.

3. Evaluate your luggage ahead of time. Make sure that your bags meet your airline’s standards for weight and size, regardless of whether you’re checking your luggage or carrying it on. Additionally, all liquids and gels stored in carry on bags need to meet the 3-1-1 rule, where containers can hold up to three ounces of liquid and must be stored in one quart sized plastic bag to be screened at security.
